About us

Practical AI, applied with restraint

Stormhill is an independent advisory and applied development practice. We help organisations use AI where it genuinely improves services and workflows, not where a vendor slide deck says it should.

Approach

Not hype. Pragmatic application against real work.

We operate differently because we are not incentivised to sell platforms. Our job is to find the smallest effective intervention, and build from there with evidence.

  1. 01

Start with the work, not the tool

We map how value is created in your business, processes, services, handoffs, failure points, before recommending any technology. AI is applied against known, quantifiable workflows, not abstract ambition.

  2. 02

    Service design before automation

Optimisation options should be achievable with the right balance of effort, risk, and return. We use service design to identify where a small change compounds, and where a large investment would be wasted.

  3. 03

    Evidence over hype

We do not sell futures. Prototypes run on your data. Pilots have success criteria agreed upfront. If something does not earn its place, we say so, our independence depends on it.

  4. 04

    Pragmatic tools, production guardrails

The best tool is the one your team will use well. We favour practical AI assistance embedded in real workflows, supported by the repository, review, and governance standards that keep output trustworthy.

The question is never "how do we adopt AI?" It is always "which part of this service or process is ready for assistance, and what must stay human?"
Research

Deep research, made useful for everyday business

We invest in applied research because the gap between AI capability and AI utility is where most organisations stall. Our writing closes that gap, with data, not doctrine.

Field observations, not thought leadership

Our research notes document anonymised engagements with verified metrics: what worked, what failed, and which guardrails mattered. They are written for operators, not conference stages.

Real-world data into everyday decisions

We take deep research and translate it into plain guidance: where agentic automation pays off, how contact centres rebuild around resolution, why tool pluralism beats vendor consolidation.

Level-up without a transformation programme

Insights are designed to be actionable quickly, changes you can pilot in weeks, measure honestly, and scale if the evidence supports it. No twelve-month roadmap required to see movement.

Selected work

AI is not only for the largest institutions

Some of our most instructive work happens at smaller scale, where a modest intervention, well placed, changes how a business operates day to day.

Voice-aligned assistance without an enterprise budget

A small advisory practice wanted to understand where AI could genuinely help, not replace their consultants, but reduce the repetitive work that slowed client delivery. They had years of email correspondence, proposals, and engagement letters that reflected how the firm actually communicated. Generic tools produced generic output. That was the problem.

What we did

  • Mapped three high-volume workflows: client intake summarisation, first-draft proposal assembly, and follow-up correspondence after meetings.
  • Built lightweight automation connecting their CRM notes to a curated instruction set tuned on historic communications, so drafts sounded like the firm, not a template library.
  • Introduced basic human-in-the-loop review: consultants approved every client-facing output before send.
  • Delivered in four weeks, using tools the team already had access to, no platform migration, no six-figure licence.

What changed

  • Proposal first drafts: average preparation time reduced from ~3.5 hours to under 45 minutes, with consultants reporting higher confidence in consistency across engagements.
  • Client follow-ups: same-day turnaround became standard rather than exceptional, improving perceived responsiveness without adding headcount.
  • Intake quality: structured summaries reduced back-and-forth in early discovery calls, freeing senior partners for conversation rather than note reconstruction.

On affordability: the engagement was scoped as a fixed, modest project, not an ongoing transformation programme. Immediate value was visible within the first fortnight. The age of AI is not reserved for multinationals with dedicated innovation budgets; it is available to any business willing to start with one well-chosen workflow and measure whether it earns its place.
